The signs went up in mid-November informing everyone of the change in tobacco policy at CAMC Memorial Hospital. As of Jan. 1, 2008, tobacco use has not been allowed on property and parking areas surrounding the hospital, physician office building, CAMC Institute administration and training center and the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center WVU-Charleston building.

Patients and their families are being notified of the new policy when they make appointments.

CAMC Memorial Hospital is committed to improving the health of those in the community, and this is an essential step to doing so.

Tobacco use has countless health risks including cancer, heart disease, stroke and lung disease. Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable disease and death in the United States.
