Located in the emergency department at CAMC General Hospital, ERXpress is a dedicated treatment area for patients with minor illnesses and injuries.
When you come to ERXpress between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., you are evaluated and treated by staff that is dedicated exclusively to patients with minor illnesses and injuries. Other, more severe cases are treated in the emergency room by CAMC’s highly trained emergency department professionals. Having two separate divisions of the emergency room with their own dedicated staffs allows non-life threatening emergencies to be separated from more severe emergencies, thereby expediting patient care and reducing wait times.
The main benefit of using ERXpress is the “just in case” factor. A person may think they have an illness or injury that is not serious. But just in case the illness or injury needs the attention of higher-level medical services, General Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center and emergency services staff is located right beside ERXpress. Additionally, patients of ERXpress are treated using the same equipment and laboratories as the emergency department
