As one of only two hospital-based rehabilitation centers in West Virginia and as the largest hospital-based rehabilitation program in the state, CAMC’s Medical Rehabilitation Center offers a sophisticated array of services that simply are not available at other hospitals in West Virginia.

For example, CAMC offers the only medical rehabilitation program with physiatrists who have completed specialized training in brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation. The 40-bed facility is staffed by physiatrists who hold the Functional Independence Measure Certification. In addition, the Center offers CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited programs in brain injury, spinal cord rehabilitation and comprehensive integrated inpatient care. We also offer the expertise of CAMC’s team of more than 500 physicians.

The goal of the Medical Rehabilitation Center is to support activities that help patients integrate physical challenges into their lifestyle. Our multi-disciplinary staff believes people with disabilities are contributing members of society and have the right to participate in all aspects of community life.

The Center works closely with a patient's referring physician and family to set a plan for achieving the patient's goals. Patients at the Center are recovering from a wide range of physical disabilities, including spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, strokes, amputations and orthopedic injuries.

The Medical Rehabilitation Center is located at CAMC General Hospital along with CAMC's Neurosciences Center and Level I Trauma Center.
