Palliative Care Services focus on the individualized needs of patients with serious end-stage advanced illnesses admitted to the hospital for treatment of complex problems. The care is specific for pain and symptom management that may result in temporary stabilization and discharge. Because patients are complex with an uncertain prognosis, they may not survive the admission episode or crisis. Palliative Care Services are also designed to prepare patients and families for either survival or death.
Palliative Care Consultations
Palliative Care Consultations are provided to patients throughout the three CAMC hospitals by physician order. They are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays.
Consultations are designed to assist with development of pain and symptom management plans and provide information about treatment options, education about disease, illness trajectory, prognosis and discharge plans to patients and families.
