CAMC’s Family Resource Center is here to help with issues that hit close to home. Our staff is trained to help you deal with parenting, loss, relationships, crisis, depression, anxiety and adjustment to chronic illness or pain. The life of someone struggling with alcohol or drug addiction is a life of chaos, physical, emotional, and spiritual pain not only for the person affected by the disease of addiction but for that person’s family and friends as well.

The FRC is now providing counseling for those who are dealing with addiction as well as their families. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction related issues please feel free to contact the FRC at 388-2545. We now have a Certified Clinical Addictions Counselor on staff.

Postpartum Therapy Group - (304) 388-2545
The birth of a child is a joyous special time in the lives of many women. For some women the weeks after the birth of their child can be clouded by feelings of sadness, anxiety, disinterest in their infant and problems with sleep. The Family Resource Center is beginning a therapy group to help women dealing with Post Partum Depression. If you feel that you may be experiencing some or all of these symptoms please call the Family Resource Center to schedule an appointment for evaluation and referral to the Post Partum Therapy Group. Parenting Skills Group - (304) 388-2545

Learn simple parenting strategies for raising great kids in complicated times and parenting solutions that prepare kids for the real world. Get respect and responsibility from your kids, handle misbehavior, stay calm and avoid arguments, get your kids to listen the first time and avoid power struggles over chores.

Join us for this seven-week therapy group, led by Janet Walters, MA. Group is based on Becoming a Love and Logic Parent program. Group offered for parents of children 10 years and younger. All group participants will need to schedule an initial appointment with Janet Walters prior to the start of the group. Please call (304) 388-2545 for more specific dates.

American Red Cross Babysitting Class –

Saturday, Sept. 25

Join staff from the American Red Cross as they teach you skills on how to become a first class babysitter. This course will cover how to interview for a babysitting job, teach diapering and feeding techniques, as well as other helpful first aid tips. Come in comfortable clothes and bring your lunch. Cost $30 payable to American Red Cross.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Join the childbirth education team at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital for this informative hour and a half class on building a healthy baby.

Learn pregnancy do’s and don’ts, healthy eating for two, normal body changes, the importance of fluids and much more. Pregnant women and their support persons are welcome. Class is held at the FRC on the first Monday of each month. Come join us for snacks, multiple handouts and more as we discuss how to grow a healthy baby. Free parking.

An abbreviated class held on Saturdays that includes preterm labor, stages of labor, pain management techniques and medical interventions. This class is designed for those who want a quick understanding of the birthing process.

Childbirth on the Go Kits – (Kit for purchase $130) 
For those too busy to attend a traditional classroom setting. This kit for purchase includes a canvas bag filled with DVDs, classroom manuals and a question and answer book on pregnancy and birth. Call (304) 388-2545 for more information.

Bed Rest Basket – ($60 deposit for two-week rental) 
When items are returned, you will be charged $40. These baskets are personalized for specific needs. Baskets include DVDs, manuals and a variety of handouts. Call 388-2545 for more information.
