CAMC statistics

Charleston Area Medical Center is the flagship of the CAMC Health System. A non-profit, 893-bed, regional referral center with more than 5,000 employees, CAMC has a distinct commitment to the people of southern West Virginia.

As Southern West Virginia's largest teaching hospital, CAMC prepares a variety of health care professionals to care for West Virginians. On any given day, CAMC hosts more than 500 students in programs leading to degrees or certifications in health professions.

CAMC's well-trained nursing and support staff offers thousands of families convenience and accessibility to quality health care. CAMC is home to one of the top 10 heart programs in the United States; one of two kidney transplant centers in the state; and one of the nation's busiest Level I Trauma Centers.

All medical services are supported by primary care physicians throughout the region who regularly treat their patients at CAMC or refer them here for specialty consultation and treatment. In all, nearly 600 physicians have admitting privileges at CAMC.
