Maysel Rawson is one of CAMC's volunteers. She has volunteered at CAMC General Hospital since the fall of 1986 and recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She reliably arrives each Monday morning for her flower desk duties with a smile and often a story to tell about her "greats" (grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren). She can be seen delivering flowers, mail and smiles.
Rawson has volunteered more than 6,000 hours in several areas including the hospital switchboard, gift shop and flower desk. She also served for many years on the CAMC Foundation's Women and Children's Gala committee. In those days, the Gala was often held at Edgewood Country Club, and Rawson was the seamstress who helped sew the table cloths and napkins.
She has also served on the CAMC General Auxiliary Board, and in 2016 even donated her creative talents on behalf of CAMC to create the program cover for the annual Auxiliary to the West Virginia Hospital Association. Rawson paints and creates her own Christmas card each year, which she hand delivers to people around the hospital during the holiday season.
