Partners in Health started as an outreach program for West
Virginia. For six years, it was a voluntary program helping rural institutions within West
Virginia. A more formal relationship was established in 1995 with the incorporation of the
Partners in Health Network.
This network aligns participating hospitals, health clinics and county health departments
as an independent entity for purchasing and other services including a universal
malpractice insurance program.
Connected by e-mail and in some cases by telemedicine technology, Partners in Health has
locations in 17 counties throughout West Virginia. As part of this regional network,
Charleston Area Medical Center and CAMC Health System share assets and a friendship with these rural
facilities.
