The West Virginia Chapter of American College of Physicians handed out awards for resident and student research.

Oral presentations

  • 2nd place clinical vignette by resident - Brandon Rose, DO PGL2 – “A “Bite” Confused (La Crosse Encephalitis in a 71 Year Old Man)”
  • 2nd place original research by student - David Greenwald, MS4- “Morbidity and Mortality of Geriatric Patients Diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism”

Poster presentations

  • 1st place clinical vignette by resident - Samantha Lane, DO, PGL3 – “Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) in a 25-year-old presenting with multisystem organ failure”

Original research by resident

  • 1st place - Andra Fee-Mulhearn, DO, PGL2 –“Reverse Sequence Syphilis Screening in a rural HIV positive population: analysis of discordant results and costs of additional treatment and management.”

Original research by student

  • 1st place - Eric Coughlin, MS4 – “Are we overprescribing Narcotics? A Look at CAMC Data”
