- Dinner raises money to help cancer patients
About 130 people raised $1,232.50 for the CAMC Foundation Bill Young Memorial Endowment Fund. This fund provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families throughout the year. Some of what the fund covered in the past year included co-pays for prescriptions, travel to and from treatment, and nutrition assistance. The event was held at Ridge View BBQ Restaurant in Institute. Bill Young lost his fight with brain cancer in April 2007. A Bayer Cropscience retiree and a lifetime Charleston resident, Bill was also a lover of the game of golf. Another fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 7, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Hurricane to benefit the Bill Young Memorial Endowment Fund. Through the fund, Bill’s memory lives on and continues to help many others who understand the financial difficulties associated with cancer and its treatment.
