Kelli Smith, Stacy Sanson, Leonard Picha, Tiffany Gladwell and Amanda Cavender (L to R) – respiratory therapists in pulmonary rehab-were recognized at the July CAMC board of trustees meeting after a patient wrote a letter thanking them for her care and nominating them for the Heart and Soul award.
The patient wrote that they were the most caring and competent medical professionals she'd ever encountered. She said the team went out of its way to ensure care and attention for each patient.
She was impressed how they even called her primary physician when she was having trouble breathing during one of her rehab visits and made arrangements for her to go the doctor's office immediately.
The patient said that each of these employees sat down with her and her husband to explain her care and answer their questions with patience, care and understanding.
In the letter, she noted how each took the time to get to know her personally.
She concluded the nomination saying this pulmonary rehab team saved her life by assisting her through her treatments and hospitalizations.
Congratulations to the other nominees in July: Dr. Joseph Africa, Karen Casto, Josh Clark, Andi Dearien, Mary Duiguid, Daralene Duncan, Kim Ellis, Pam Fulks, Karen Hall, Timothy Ickes, Linda Lemon, David Mullins, Becky Rebrook, Margaret Skiles, Donna Smolder, Teena Whitesel.
