CAMC Foundation Gala sets fundraising record - Archived
Children in southern West Virginia can believe in magic and the CAMC Foundation.
Last Saturday's Gala was a record-breaker, raising more than $371,000 for CAMC Women and Children's Hospital.
More than 370 people experienced a magical evening, with the theme "Do You Believe in Magic?" Cocktails and gourmet food were served and donors hit the dance floor - all in support of community-based programs at Women and Children's Hospital.
The proceeds for this event support Prevention First, a program providing care for underserved and high-risk patients. These people make up 70 percent of the hospital's patient population. Diverse services are offered through the program. Skilled nurses go into homes to work with ill infants. Educational sessions inform about the pluses of breastfeeding or the dangers of smoking.
