The Breast Center is home to the most experienced and dedicated
radiologists in the valley. A staff of radiology technologists and
registered nurses are available to meet all patient needs. The center is
unique because we provide many services for patients from mammography to
bladder studies. We pride ourselves on our patient-centered atmosphere
that focuses on the comfort of the patient. Mammograms are offered during the center’s hours of operation. No appointment is necessary.
The center offers a unique program for women requiring a breast biopsy.
When a mammogram is performed and further studies are needed, a nurse
calls the woman to set up an appointment for additional mammogram views
or an ultrasound. If the radiologist indicates the need for a biopsy,
and the woman's physician is agreeable, a consultation with a surgeon is
scheduled in the Center. If possible, the biopsy is performed the same
day as the consultation. If it cannot be performed the same day, the
surgeon schedules the biopsy. Local surgeons work each week in the
center. This unique biopsy program has reduced the wait time for an
appointment with a surgeon by four weeks or more. This concept
alleviates anxiety, and gives our ladies access to nurses for one-on-one
question and answer sessions. The big plus is the expertise and skill of
a team that includes radiologists and surgeons who are dedicated to fast
and efficient care.
The Breast Center also has CAMC's only radiology technologist certified
for bone density testing, the study performed to diagnose osteoporosis.
The bone density study is a pain free test and takes about 20 minutes to
perform. Walk-ins are welcome with a physician's order. No scheduling
necessary.
The center also offers breast and pelvic ultrasounds performed by
experienced ultrasonographers. A physician’s order is needed for this
procedure as well and can be scheduled by calling (304) 388-9677.
The Breast Center at CAMC is the only facility in the state to offer
videourodynamics, or urinary bladder studies. These studies assist
physicians in deciding treatment for patients with urinary incontinence.
