For most people, sleep is a natural,
yet uneventful part of our lives. We take it for granted.
However, 15 percent of all people living in industrialized countries
suffer serious sleeping and waking problems. That does not include
those who suffer from insomnia.
Because nearly a third of our lives
is spent sleeping, any interference with the process can be
disruptive to our wakeful routines. In some cases, sleep deprivation
can be fatal.
The CAMC Sleep Center offers the
latest technology for treating sleep disorders. In 1992, the center
was the first in West Virginia to be accredited by the American
Academy of Sleep Medicine. Our staff of dedicated
professionals is led by George
Zaldivar, MD, FCCP, ACP. Dr. Zaldivar is medical director
and is board-certified in sleep medicine and pulmonary
medicine.
