Do
I need a physician's referral?
No,
we accept self-referral. However, you may want to check with
your insurance provider to see if they require referral to a
specialist.
Does my insurance cover the cost of visits to the sleep center?
Yes, consultations are usually covered by insurance providers the
same as any other specialist coverage. Testing is an
outpatient procedure and usually covered at the usual rate of
testing for other outpatient procedures. However, you may want
to contact your insurance carrier just to be sure. We work with patients
in regards to managed care authorizations and pre-certifications
before and during their treatment regimen.
Do
I have to get approval for testing with my insurance?
After
the initial consultation, our staff will work with your insurance
provider to obtain pre-authorization if testing is deemed
necessary. However,
each patient is advised to be aware of his or her insurance plan’s
allowances and/or restrictions. Do I have to stay all night?
Yes,
you will be monitored all night while you sleep to determine what
type of difficulties you are having during sleep. Monitoring
will include bio-electrical recordings such as EKG, and brain waves,
as well as closed circuit camera and sound recordings.
How do I know I need to come to see a sleep specialist?
You may need to see the sleep specialist if you:
-
have
difficulty getting to or staying asleep
-
wake
feeling unrefreshed even after a full night's sleep
-
have
difficulty staying awake during the day
-
exhibit
loud snoring or gasping for air during sleep
-
have
morning headaches or memory loss
-
have
impaired performance during the day
Anyone
can experience a poor nights sleep occasionally due to illness,
stress, or just bad habits, but chronic difficulty (four weeks or
more) may indicate that you need to see a sleep specialist.
Will I have a private room?
Yes, each testing room is set up like a bedroom to help make you
feel more relaxed and at home.
Do I have to stop my medications?
No – typically you will continue your medications as usual, but
the sleep specialist will discuss any special circumstances with you
prior to testing.
How
do I schedule an appointment?
Call
(304) 388-7507 and our staff will schedule you an appointment for initial
consultation with our sleep specialist.
What
should I wear during my sleep study?
Pajamas,
gown, sweat suit shorts - whatever you will be most comfortable
wearing. We do recommend loose fitting clothing to avoid
restricting movements, especially due to the number of connections
of the monitoring devices.
When will I receive a bill?
A patient will receive a statement from CAMC once a month. |
