Bruce B. Horswell, MD, DDS, MS, FACS , is the Medical Director of FACES (First Appalachian Craniofacial Deformity Specialists) at the CAMC Physicians Group Facial Surgery practice. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Horswell is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. He obtained his medical degree and surgical training from the University of Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut, and his dental degree and oral maxillofacial training from the University of Minnesota. He completed two craniofacial fellowships at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and the Royal Children's Hospital in Liverpool, England. He was on the faculty at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and also has been in private practice in his home state of Minnesota. Dr. Horswell is a well-known national and international speaker.
FACES is affiliated with Charleston Area Medical Center’s Women and Children's Hospital. The practice specializes in the comprehensive management of congenital and acquired cranio/maxillofacial deformities and related problems. The program’s multidisciplinary team includes craniomaxillofacial surgery, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, pediatric genetics, audiology, speech therapy, orthodontic/pediatric dentistry, nursing and social work for children with treatment of facial deformities such as cleft lip and palate, cranial suture fusion (misshapen head), growth problems of the facial region, crooked and misaligned jaws, eye and ear anomalies or asymmetries, birth marks or vascular lesions, and speech and swallow evaluation is offered. FACES serves as a resource for primary care providers in regard to these problems.
