Questions

Q: How do I get an appointment?
A: Many patients are referred to our office from the emergency room for traumatic conditions such as fractures, sprains or contusions. When the ER discharges a patient, they will give them the name of the physician on call and our office phone number. The patient should call our office for an appointment.

Some patients have day-to-day problems, such as pain in their joints, limbs or muscles. They can be referred to our office by their treating physician. The physician's office should complete our referral form and send it to our office by fax or e-mail. We will then contact their office with your appointment details.

Q: What insurances do you accept?
A: We participate with most major insurance companies ( Aetna , BC /BS, Carelink, Cigna, Medicare, Select Net, 4 Most, PPO/USA, Railroad Medicare, Humana, UMWA, Tricare and WVWC). Please call your insurance company to find out if we are a provider with your particular plan.

Q: What if I need to cancel my appointment?
A: As a courtesy to other patients, we ask that you please call our office as soon as possible if you need to cancel your appointment and we will be happy to reschedule. Your appointment will be automatically cancelled 15 minutes after your scheduled time unless prior arrangements are made.

Q: What do I need to bring for my first office visit?
A: You will need to bring the following items with you:

1.       Insurance card.

2.       Picture ID.

3.       Any referrals or authorizations required by your insurance company.

4.       Copies of any diagnostic testing related to your appointment, such as X-rays, MRI or CT scan films and reports.

5.       A list of your current medications.

6.       Payment for your office visit, or co-pay if you have insurance.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes, we accept most major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners and Discover.

Q: How do I get a refill on my medications?
A: Prescriptions are given at the time of your office visit ONLY.

Q: I have just had surgery, can I change my bandage?
A: You should have been advised when you were discharged from the hospital what your instructions were for changing your post operative dressing. Typically, you may change the dressing in four days. Clean the incision with peroxide, pat dry, apply a small amount of antibiotic ointment to the incision and apply a new dressing. Thereafter, repeat this process daily until your next office visit.

Q: If I have swelling what can I do?
A: Rest the swollen area, elevate higher than the heart (if possible), and apply ice for 20 minutes every two hours.

Q: How do I take care of my cast?
A: Here are some tips:

·         Keep your cast dry (you may use a cast cover product to bathe).

·         Do not pull out the cast padding.

·         Do not stick anything inside the cast.

·         Do not attempt to alter your cast.

Q: What if I need to cancel my surgery?
A: If you need to cancel your surgery, please notify our office at (304) 757-2273 ext. 14, as soon as possible. If it is outside of our normal office hours and the same day as your surgery is to take place, please call the hospital to cancel and then notify our office as soon as possible.
