Employee Emergency Fund

The Employee Fund has helped hundreds of employees since its inception.  We know some of our employees are working less at this time, and it is creating a financial loss for their families.  If you are experiencing a financial hardship due to your own lost wages (or your spouse or significant other), you may qualify for a grant.  Please complete the application and submit supporting documentation to Human Resources for consideration.

Reduction in Hours/Applying for Unemployment Information

When a CAMC department or office temporarily closes or needs to reduce personnel due to COVID-19, employees will have the following options:

 Non-exempt employees:

  • Unemployment- File for unemployment or low earnings online at workforcewv.org or call 1-800-252-JOBS. Employees filing for unemployment or low earnings do not need any documentation from CAMC, they just need to apply online or over the phone. HR will provide any information needed directly to Workforce WV once the claims are filed.
  • Voluntary Reduction (VRH) - Use PTO, PTO Cash In, PPTO, USB or take unpaid as VRH.
  • Mandatory Reduction (MRH) - Follow the established order to reduce staff. Employees can use PTO, PTO Cash In, PPTO, USB or take unpaid as MRH.

Exempt employees:

  • Unemployment- File for unemployment or low earnings online at workforcewv.org or call 1-800-252-JOBS. Employees filing for unemployment or low earnings do not need any documentation from CAMC, you just need to apply online or over the phone. HR will provide any information needed directly to Workforce WV once the claims are filed.
  • Volunteer to take time off: Use PTO, PTO Cash In, PPTO, USB. If employees do not have any of these pay sources or do not want to use their PTO, they can voluntarily take a full day off without pay.
  • If an exempt employee does not want to voluntarily take time off and there is no work for them, they will need to use PTO, PTO Cash In, PPTO or USB. If they do not have any of these pay sources, they can only be required to take unpaid time off in full week increments.

Important Points:

  • A reduction in hours or applying for unemployment due to COVID-19 will not change an employee’s employment status with CAMC.
  • Employees who are in a benefit eligible status will not lose benefits due to a reduction in hours or unemployment due to COVID-19. Missed benefit premiums, if any, will be collected upon return to work.
  • If staffing needs change, employees must be available to return to work if needed.
