The West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program has awarded $7,500 to the CAMC Foundation for donations made to the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Abused children, both physically and sexually, are seen at the CAMC Child Advocacy Center. The center allows for the evaluation and assessment of children who are thought to have been victims of child abuse by professionals who have coordinated their schedules and questions so that children are interviewed only once, and not repeatedly traumatized by retelling and reliving what they have suffered.

Unfortunately, the number of visits continues to climb. Last year alone, the center saw over 400 abused children. Due to this increase, the unit is building its own space. All gifts made to the center are eligible for West Virginia state tax credits up to 50 percent of the contributed amount. Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for the Corporate Net Income Tax, Business Franchise Tax or Personal Income Tax. Credits are issued on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact the foundation for further information.
