"A good quality of life for all older people in our community."

West Virginia's aging population has created a need for quality, accessible health care by highly-trained specialists to treat the many elderly individuals suffering from chronic diseases and disabilities. CAMC has made a commitment to focus on the care of the elderly for the benefit of our region.

In early 2006, through a generous gift from the Arthur B. Hodges Center and matching funds from the CAMC Foundation, an endowment fund was established to support geriatric education and training activities. The endowment fund sustains the ongoing development of the geriatric medicine fellowship, the pharmacy residency in geriatrics and the geriatric nurse practitioner program. In addition, the endowment is dedicated to supporting geriatric research, with the goal of improving health outcomes for the senior population in southern West Virginia.
