Evening gowns and tuxedos to golf clubs and runner's shorts. The CAMC Foundation events have something for everyone - whether you enjoy sports or like to dress up for an evening out. You can enjoy a fun event and know you are supporting a wonderful cause.

CAMC Foundation Gala Table 129x190CAMC Foundation Gala is a long-standing event that raises critical funds to support programs and services at Women and Children's Hospital.

An elegant affair, this event attracts nearly 400 guests each year to the Clay Center for Arts and Sciences in Charleston, WV. The event highlights include fine cuisine, cocktails, entertainment and an auction of unique trips, services, jewelry and more.

Proceeds raised from the Gala support the Prevention First program, which has created a positive and healing presence in Southern West Virginia. The Prevention First Program provides care for underserved and high-risk patients, which represents 70% of our patient population.

The Prevention First Program offers a diverse set of services to the community.  These services are greatly needed, however, there is a lack of funding. A low reimbursement rate for Medicaid programs in our community has obliterated many of these programs. Prevention First has allowed us to continue these programs that are funded entirely through contributions to the CAMC Foundation Gala.  Without the continued generosity of foundation donors, Prevention First would cease to exist.

In 2011, this event raised more than $370,000 for Women and Children's Hospital.

CAMC Foundation Golf Classic logo 129x190

The CAMC Foundation Golf Classic celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011. Created to attract the sports enthusiast, the Golf Classic supports the Foundation's Children's Fund.  Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund children's safety net services including NICU, trauma, clinics, preventive and educational programs at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital. Specifically the proceeds support the Children's Medicine Center, the NICU, Pediatric Oncology Program, Family Resource Center and the Child Abuse Prevention Program.

Each year, more than 300 golfers play on three courses in Kanawha County: Berry Hills Country Club, Edgewood Country Club and Sleepy Hollow Country Club. A great game of golf, refreshments, food and raffle are among the highlights of the day. The Golf Classic traditionally raises $200,000 for the Children's Fund. The Bill Young Memorial Golf Tournament will be held in October at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

The surviving family members of Bill Young created an annual golf tournament to honor their loved one and to support families who experience similar struggles with cancer.

Bill Young was a Bayer Crop Science retiree and a Cross Lanes resident. He died from brain cancer in April 2007 and the family held its first tournament in Summer 2008. The tournament raises thousands of dollars each year and is placed in an endowment fund at the CAMC Foundation. Over the years, more than $35,000 has been raised to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families.
