Help the CAMC Team

CAMC has received a tremendous response from the community about helping those working at our hospitals. If you would like to help, here are some ways you can give back to our staff. We are extremely grateful for the support!

Mask Making Program

The CDC is advising the use of cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.

So far, more than 5,000 masks have been donated. We are still accepting homemade masks, as they are being used for staff members working in non-patient care areas to help keep the recommended social distancing while they work. We are also providing them to patients in our emergency departments during the time of their visits.

Please see the mask guidelines below for information and the types of masks we are accepting.

Mask Making Program Guidelines

Fabric masks:

We are accepting masks made from any pattern, but we do request you pre-wash and dry the fabric before sewing the pattern. This is to avoid making the masks too small, as the fabric does shrink once washed and dried. Please follow these CDC recommendations:

  • Masks should reach above the nose, below the chin, and completely cover the mouth and nostrils
  • Masks should fit snugly against the sides of the face
  • Masks should be made of multiple layers of fabric so you can still breathe through

Additional information – Ear loops and elastic for fabric masks can cause ears to become sore after wearing the masks for extended periods of time. Fabric headbands help take pressure off of ears. Fabric masks that can be tied in the back are also a common used pattern.

3D printed materials: Donations of 3D printed face shields (not masks) and mask strap adjusters are being accepted. Face shields will be used as a resource for clinical staff when needed.
