In the Spotlight

Volunteer Image 144x144There is a long tradition of delivering smiles at CAMC hospitals. Each weekday, volunteers can be found at their respective flower and mail desks receiving and preparing the day's deliveries.

Volunteers take their jobs seriously. Each one knows that they are delivering more than just flowers or mail. They are delivering "Get well" wishes or "I am thinking of you" messages from our patients' family and friends.

Patient mail received in our hospital mail rooms is sorted and delivered daily, Monday through Friday. In addition, volunteers work to send mail home for patients who have already been discharged. At the desk, volunteers welcome our local florists, accept flowers and deliver them to the patients. As a volunteer carries a vase or arrangement down the hall, it often brightens the faces of those nearby. In fact, after a delivery, many volunteers will tell you that just delivering the greeting brought smiles to their own faces.

In order to provide consistent service we need to have volunteer coverage of each of our flower/mail desks each weekday morning and afternoon. We have a variety of slots open at each hospital. If you would like to bring a smile to the faces of our patients, and possibly your own, click here to apply or call our office at (304) 388-7426 for an application.
