Obtaining
an Estimate
Insured
patients may contact our financial counselors to discuss your specific plan
coverage and prospective services.
We will estimate your co-pay and deductibles based on verification from
your insurance carrier.
Prior to your services
Insurance plans
differ widely as to what services they will pay for, and how much
they will pay even if a service is covered.
Your doctor may be able to help explain what tests or
hospital services would be covered by your insurance. Your insurance
plan can give you specific answers. Because insurance plan rules
change so frequently, CAMC is not able to tell you what your
insurance plan will, or will not, cover.
If your
physician orders a procedure, test or service that your insurance
(including Medicare) most likely will not cover, you will be asked
to sign an advance beneficiary notice (ABN). The ABN is intended to
inform you, in advance of receiving the service, that your insurance
plan is not likely to pay for the procedure or service. By signing
the ABN, you are indicating that you understand and agree to be
personally and fully responsible for payment should your insurer
deny payment for the procedure or service.
You
can either choose to receive the services and agree to be
financially responsible for them; or you can refuse the test or
services. If you refuse the services, you will also be asked to sign
a form indicating you have elected not to have the service.
