Doctors Ganpat and Chandrani Thakker have been practicing physicians for more than 20 years at CAMC. They have been inspired by the employees at CAMC who are currently donating to the employee emergency fund to help their co-workers who are experiencing financial difficulties, such as, replacement of essential personal items lost to theft, flood, fire or other disasters, relocation to escape dangerous living conditions, funeral expenses or illness.
In December 2005, Drs. Ganpat and Chandrani Thakker established an endowment fund at the CAMC Foundation similar to the employee fund. This fund has been named “A Thank You for CAMC Employees Endowment Fund.” The fund is restricted for the exclusive use to provide assistance to employees of CAMC and its local affiliates and employees of private physicians, practicing at CAMC, who have contributed a minimum gift of $1,000 to the fund.
During 2014 and 2015, the fund awarded nine grants to CAMC employees. The existing awards review committee for the CAMC Employee Emergency Fund acts as the committee to review and approve grant applications for the “A Thank you for CAMC Employees Endowment Fund.”
Drs. Ganpat and Chandrani Thakker would like to encourage other private practicing physicians at CAMC and CAMC employees to make a contribution to this fund. If you are a private practice physician and would like for your employees to be eligible to participate in this program, please contact Gail Pitchford, CAMC Foundation president at (304) 388-9862.
Thank you to Drs. Ganpat and Chandrani Thakker for your generosity!
