Amy Bayes and Kasey Wooten, cardiopulmonary-ICU (CPICU), and Connie Waskey, labor and delivery (L&D), were recognized for their thoughtful collaboration when a patient from Women and Children's Hospital was transferred to Memorial Hospital.
Following an emergency cesarean section, a patient's condition became critical. The baby did not survive, and due to her condition the mother was not able to see the infant before her transfer to Memorial.
The staff in CPICU and L&D went above and beyond, not only to get the baby to its mother, but to make sure to ease this terrible situation in any way they could. They even contacted a photographer, who specializes in these cases, to come so the mother would have something special to remember her baby.
