Nearly 100 walkers and runners gathered at Kanawha State Forest Saturday, Sept. 29, to raise funds for the CAMC Women and Children's Hospital Children's Advocacy Center. Participants raised more than $11,000 to support the Children's Advocacy Center, which provides evaluation and treatment to abused children from Kanawha and surrounding counties.
In addition to interviews and medical evaluations, the center offers trauma-focused therapy on-site for children. It is a child-friendly facility with staff who work to provide children children and families professional, compassionate care to reduce the trauma often experienced by children who are victims of abuse. Families are never charged for services at the center.
