Routine lab tests are an important way to keep track of your health. In addition to an exam by your doctor, blood work can detect issues or changes in your body that may need further examination.

CAMC LabWorks is now open in seven convenient locations for lab testing throughout the Charleston and Teays Valley areas. No appointment is necessary at any location - just bring your physician's order and you can have your lab work completed.

LabWorks locations are:

  • CAMC Cancer Center (first floor)
  • CAMC Imaging Center - Southridge
  • CAMC Urgent Care Center - Cross Lanes
  • Kanawha City (Chesterfield Avenue)
  • Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Office Building (basement)
  • Winfield Primary Care
  • Women and Children's Hospital Medical Staff Office Building (first floor)

Visit camc.org/LabWorks for hours and maps to each location.

What lab tests do I need to get?

Some of the most common blood tests that your doctor may want you to have are:

  • Complete blood count (CBC) - this test is used to evaluate your overall health and can be used to detect several disorders including anemia, infection and leukemia.
  • Blood chemistry panel or a comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) - this test is used to measure the levels of glucose (blood sugar), calcium and electrolytes. It also checks your kidney and liver function.

Your doctor may want you to get additional tests depending on your age, health conditions and risk level for disease. Visit healthinfo.camc.org for more information about other lab tests.
