CAMC Memorial Hospital hosted a demonstration of the da Vinci Robot Oct. 28 and 29.
The demo gave employees and the public an interactive, hands-on learning experience with the da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System.
Since CAMC's robotics program began in 2007, surgeons have used the robot to perform more than 6,100 procedures. Current procedures with robot assistance include multiple cancer cases such as kidney, prostate, bladder, colon, lung, esophageal and gynecologic cancers.
Surgeons also perform many benign procedures including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, hysterectomy, urological procedures, colon and pelvic floor reconstruction.
