The CAMC Foundation Gala raises funds for CAMC Children’s Cancer Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, Prevention First and many other programs administered at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. Children’s Cancer Center In 2013, there were 692 hematology/oncology visits to the infusion center, which is an average of 58 per month. There are 12 to 15 newly diagnosed oncology patients here annually. Proceeds from the Gala help children battle and conquer this daunting disease. The CAMC Children’s Cancer Center has the most up-to-date treatment protocols available for children with cancer. Children’s Advocacy Center Statistics show that one in four girls and one in six boys will have at least one occurrence of sexual abuse by the age of 18. The CAMC Children’s Advocacy Center is a place that provides professional and compassionate care to children and families to reduce the trauma for children who have been victims of physical or sexual abuse. Prevention First Roughly 70 percent of our patient population is underserved and qualify as high-risk patients. Prevention First offers a set of diverse services to this patient population striving to provide a healthy, care-free youth that each child deserves. Because of our generous donors, we are able to keep these programs viable.
