The 22nd annual CAMC Foundation Birdies for Babies Golf Classic was held Aug. 18. Through the generosity of many, a record $216,000 was raised to benefit the foundation’s children’s fund. Proceeds are used to help at-risk newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit, along with safety net services in trauma, clinics, and preventive and educational programs.

In 2013, the CAMC Foundation awarded more than $275,000 from the Children’s Fund to programs like the CAMC Family Resource Center where:

• 1,055 people participated in the childbirth education program

• 72 parents who lost pregnancies and or children benefited from bereavement services

• More than 75 patients each month are screened for their enrollment into the drug addicted mother baby program

As co-chairs of the 2014 Classic, Paul White and Raye King White can attest to one of the recipients of this fund; the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Earlier this year, their granddaughter was provided compassionate and thoughtful attention in the NICU for eight days. They witnessed firsthand the quality and state-of-the-art care provided for at CAMC Women and Children’s NICU. Many more babies and families from our community will utilize these services. Thanks to your support, we can continue to make a difference.
