In October 2014 the CAMC Foundation held its fundraising campaign to benefit the CAMC Employee Emergency Fund. During the two-week campaign period 352 employees signed up to support this program pledging more than $22,000.
The CAMC Employee Emergency Fund provides assistance through the CAMC Foundation to employees who experience personal financial emergencies, such as: family bereavement expenses, replacement of personal items due to theft, flood, fire or other disaster, moving expenses to escape unsafe living conditions and medical expenses.
An employee who benefited from the assistance described the program as:
“It is a wonderful asset to the employees. When my husband had to have surgery and was out of work for a while, it helped cover medical expenses not covered by insurance. Many employees benefit from this program and that is why I contribute to it. People never know what can happen in their lives and when they may need help.”
Since the program’s inception in 2001, the CAMC Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 to 1,145 employees who experienced financial hardship.
