Medical Explorers is a worksite-based program that gives youth an opportunity to visit community organizations and explore the dynamics of various careers. Exploring is for young men and women who are at least 14 years of age and have completed the eighth grade. Participation may continue through age 20.
The purpose is to help youth to develop and grow through activities that provide real life experiences in their field of interest. Exploring programs are based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character and leadership experience.
Every explorer post specializes in a specific career program area:
Charleston Medical Explorers meet the second Thursday of every month October through April from 6-7 p.m. Locations vary. The kick-off meeting will be held Oct. 10.
Teays Valley Medical Explorers meet the fourth Thursday of every month September through May (except December) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the CAMC Teays Valley Hospital Education Room.
