Pediatrics and PICU Visitation Policy

Pediatrics

The Pediatric Unit promotes family-centered care. We encourage and welcome parents/legal guardians to stay with their child. Parents/legal guardians may visit 24 hours a day. Patients may have two visitors at a time other than the parents from the hours of 9:00a.m.-9:00p.m. One bed chair is provided per patient for one parent/legal guardian (18 years or older) to spend the night. No siblings are allowed to stay overnight. Other adult relatives and friends may visit between the hours of 9:00a.m. - 9:00p.m.

Siblings must be at least three years or older to visit. Any child who is not a sibling, must be 13 years or older to visit. All children regardless of relationship must have no signs and symptoms of illness, must stay in the patient's room, and visiting child should be with an adult at all times. Parents take full responsibility for any child visiting their child on the unit.

Every visitor should follow proper hand washing procedures as posted in the patient's room. Visitation could be denied depending on the patient's diagnosis for the protection of the patient. For conflicts with the above criteria please contact the Charge Nurse and/or Nurse Manager for exceptions, and/or special arrangements.
