The CAMC Outpatient Diabetes Education Program offers adult diabetes education to everyone. Our program is designed to help provide an individual with the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for diabetes self-care.

Programs Offered

Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Education               

This 10 hours of education is a complete training in self-managing diabetes. The first appointment is an individual 1-hour assessment and the following (3) appointments are scheduled as group or individual (if needed).

Instructional topics include

  • Diabetes Basics
  • Monitoring diabetes
  • Nutrition management
  • Physical activity
  • Medications
  • Goal setting/problem solving
  • Living with diabetes
  • Reducing risks of diabetes complications

*Our program data shows past program participants have improved HgbA1c, weight loss, increased daily physical activity and prevented long-term complications.

Pregnancy and Diabetes Education

This diabetes education is designed to help keep mothers and their babies healthy during and after pregnancy.

Carbohydrate Counting Education

This diabetes education is designed to help those who take multiple daily injections or on the insulin pump to learn the basics of carbohydrate counting.

The CAMC Outpatient Diabetes Education* Program has been awarded recognition by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in meeting all quality standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Training. Our instruction team is dedicated in providing quality education.
