Each year more than 3,000 babies are born at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital (visit our online nursery), many of which are high-risk births.
CAMC Women and Children's Hospital is home to the region's largest and busiest Level IV (highest level) neonatal intensive care unit and level I (highest level) pediatric intensive care unit.
The pediatric physicians, many of whom are faculty of West Virginia University-Charleston Division, provide consultation and care in more than 30 specialties including adolescent medicine, allergy and immunology, critical care medicine, endocrinology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, neonatal-perinatal medicine, nephrology, neurology, pulmonary medicine and surgery.
High-tech, maternal-fetal medicine and gynecologic cancer services are also offered.
The CAMC Family Resource Center, located on the Women and Children's Hospital campus, provides short-term counseling, family-based health education and guided tours of CAMC Women and Children's Hospital triage, labor/delivery/recovery and mother/baby units. The Children’s Advocacy Center provides children and families with professional, compassionate care to reduce trauma often experienced by children who are victims of abuse. Staff members at the CAC conduct thorough evaluations to identify the needs of each child, and facilitate the provision of the services required. Families are never changes for services at the CAC.
