The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandated implementation of Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) consulting via a qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (qCDSM) for all advanced imaging orders by 2020. To meet these new requirements, CAMC is in the process of implementing Cerner’s CareSelect Advanced Imaging Order Support functionality. It is designed to provide the physician feedback on the appropriateness of select imaging orders at the time the order is placed in Cerner. Imaging Studies included in this new workflow are: MRI, CT, NucMed, PET. Imaging Studies excluded from this workflow are: X-ray, US, Fluoroscopy. What to Expect: Providers will select orders for signature to add to scratchpad, select structured indication and appropriate exam, and sign order. Providers will be able to see a Decision Support Number and Score from the order information. Note: Nursing staff will not be prompted to follow this workflow if placing a TO/VO. The TO/VO process will not change. When: Implementation of this workflow will begin with Hospitalists and ED Providers on February 11th, 2019. After these initial groups have had a chance to use the new workflow, a date will be announced to implement the solution for all other Providers in the organization.
