Samantha Bell is a Nursing Assistant on 3 South, General Hospital. During a recent snowstorm, she picked up extra shifts at work.
Bell drove an hour and a half in hazardous weather conditions and still made it to work on time. She was the only nursing assistant available to several patients. She made it her goal to ensure everyone was bathed during her shift.
During this shift Bell talked with an elderly woman about the snow falling outside her window. The patient mentioned she was never able to play in the snow as a child because her mother would not allow her to.
After finishing this patient’s bath, Bell went outside and gathered a large tub of snow and helped the patient build a snowman beside her bed. This small act of kindness brightened the patient’s spirit.
Bell never hesitates to jump in to help with other assignments, complete vital signs, walk patients or help feed them. She truly lives CAMC’s mission of providing the best care to every patient, every day.
