Pathology is an important part of diagnosis and treatment. A pathologist will review a biopsy or blood sample, usually under a microscope, to determine if cancer is present and if so, the type of cancer.

CAMC’s department of pathology laboratory medicine is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. All of the pathologists in the department are certified by the American Board of Pathology. They also take part in the weekly tumor conference and are available for consultation with the physicians.
