Thank you for your interest in serving our hospital and patients! We appreciate your efforts to make a positive impact on our community through visiting or donating to our hospital and patients.

There are many options for one-time visits or projects for our hospital.

  • Guided craft days with patients
  • Plan a game day/night for our pediatric patients
  • Sing/play music in lobbies or inpatient units
  • Sponsor craft or happy kits. Supply the materials and gather a group to put together following our checklists and instructions. Each kit/bag will be given to pediatric patients in our hospital. You can also plan your own time and place to put these kits together, following our checklists and instructions
  • Character appearances
  • Prepare grab-and-go meals/snacks to be delivered to families in our waiting rooms

If you have other specific ideas, we can discuss those with you as well. To begin the process, please complete the Community Serving/Visiting Interest form. We have multiple areas within our hospital that have specific needs and opportunities for giving.

What’s next:

  • Read the Guidelines for Community Groups and Special Visitors. Sign and submit if proceeding
  • Someone from Volunteer Services will contact you as soon as possible following receipt of your interest forms
  • Once the visit/event has been approved, you will be given a contact person for the activity/visit
  • Once the visit/event has been approved and are going to serve/visit in the hospital, you and ALL members of a group must complete the Attestation and Release form

Once any activity, visit or donation has been approved, you must complete the Donations/Gift in Kind form.

There are multiple ways that you can support the hospital through donations.

All financial donations to support the patients of Charleston Area Medical Center can be made by contacting the CAMC Foundation at (304) 388-9860 or by donating online at camcfoundation.org.

We have an Amazon Wish List that can help guide your donations if you would like to purchase and have items delivered directly to the hospital.  If you have another idea regarding donation, please add it to the interest form as it will need to be approved by the receiving department. These donations will not provide/support necessary direct patient care, but they will help to augment care of our patients and help them feel more comfortable and emotionally supported during the difficult time of hospitalization/treatment.

You can also create/handmake items to be donated to the hospital and our patients.

  • Pillowcases:  We like to give our pediatric patients a special pillowcase to make their stay a little brighter.  We would be opposed to sharing special pillowcases with our adult patients as well if you have pretty fabric to make pillowcases that would be appropriate for adults. Click here to download the pattern.
  • Crocheted baby hats: We like to give our littlest patients handmade baby hats that help them maintain their body temperature. Click here to download the pattern.
  • Ribbon Snugglers: These fun little blankets are used in our Emergency Department and in Pediatrics. Click here to download the pattern.
  • Fidget Blankets: The special lap blankets are used for our brain injury patients from trauma or dementia/Alzheimer’s. These blankets help keep their hands busy and focused during difficult times. Click here to download the pattern.
  • Crocheted Jellyfish:  These cute, little animals are just the right size and perfect for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Incubators. Click here to download the pattern.

**For the safety of our patients, donated and handmade items must be free of smoke, pet hair, dust and mold/mildew. Items must be prewashed and placed in a Ziploc bag to deliver to the hospital.
