We are the highest level Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Neurosciences Center and Medical Rehabilitation Center. Each year, our experienced Trauma Center staff treats more than 3,100 patients. An average of 1,500 patients also receive neurosurgery and medical rehabilitation services here. Plus, our Stroke Center has been designated as a Primary Stroke Center from DNV-GL Healthcare USA, Inc. Our interdisciplinary stroke team, specially-trained in the latest methods of stroke care, offers a 24/7 rapid response process for incoming stroke patients and includes physician specialists in emergency medicine, neurology and radiology, as well as nurses, clinical pharmacists, acute care therapists, case managers and social workers.
Memorial Hospital's emergency room experiences more than 36,000 visits annually. While the ER serves all patients with all conditions, it is particularly well known for its heart and vascular care. A new two-tiered triage system is being implemented to meet not only your emergent medical needs but the urgent ones more rapidly as well. The cardiac team is on call 24/7 to meet the incoming heart attack patient's needs and includes physician specialists in emergency medicine, cardiology, radiology, cardio-thoracic surgery as well as specially trained nurses, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, x-ray, lab and EKG technicians. The emergency room at Women and Children's Hospital provides acute care, monitoring and observation to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with non-urgent, urgent and emergent needs. A team of personnel provides services with special interest and education in the management of neonatal, pediatric, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, high risk obstetrics and trauma services. Our experienced staff treats more than 33,000 patients annually.
