Breastmilk depot gets dedicated freezer
Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital had a ribbon cutting for a freezer to be used exclusively for its breastmilk depot program.
In the summer of 2025, CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital became the first breastmilk depot in West Virginia. Since then, the hospital has collected over 5,500 ounces of breastmilk.
The hospital partners with the Mid-Atlantic Mother’s Milk Bank for the screening, processing and distribution of human milk.
Additionally, CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital now has 17 postpartum nurses who are Certified Breastfeeding Specialists. These nurses have completed additional training to improve bedside breastfeeding support and work alongside our lactation consultants.
