GVMC residents at capitol

Residents from CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center

During the 2023 legislative session, several people have been involved in informing lawmakers about important issues such as PEIA reimbursement to hospitals and certificate of need rules, as well as health-related concerns.

Many people met with legislators during Hospital Day at the Legislature Feb. 9.

Additionally, Emma Gilham and Carrie Wines-Larch participated with West Virginia’s cancer coalition, Mountains of Hope, where a legislative citation was read recognizing March as Colon Cancer Awareness month.

Adel Aziz, MD, CAMC Neurology and Jeff Whittaker, ambulatory services director of CAMC Neurology, participated in Alzheimer’s Awareness Day at the capitol Feb. 16 in support of the passage of Senate Bill 526, which calls for early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other dementias to be included in existing public health programs and services.

Residents from CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, alongside other organizations, also took to the capitol to celebrate West Virginia Rural Health Association’s West Virginia Rural Health Day at the Legislature.
