Dr. Alexander Navone specializes in critical care medicine. He joined our medical staff this past summer.
He recently cared for a patient who was at the end of his life.
Dr. Navone immediately reached out to case management to find a next of kin, and when the patient was in pain while actively dying, he had an extremely compassionate conversation with the family over the phone.
Dr. Navone provided comfort and support when they realized they would not arrive in time to see him and offered the family to call back at any time to ask him to discuss the patient’s condition.
The family had not seen the patient in five years, but Dr. Navone made sure the family was placed on the ASCOM so they could speak to and be with the patient in his final moments.
All day, Dr. Navone worked extremely hard on this case with multiple departments to ensure the best and most appropriate care was provided for the patient.
