One recent example is when Elkins overheard a patient discussing discharge planning with case management and quickly recognized the patient needed additional help arranging placement at a recovery center for further treatment.
With determination and compassion, Elkins made multiple phone calls to recovery programs until she successfully secured a placement for the patient.
Without her persistence and advocacy, this patient would not have been able to continue receiving necessary treatment.
