Work can be stressful, sometimes leaving people feeling anxious, tired and overwhelmed.

During the pandemic, many have experienced those feelings as well as burnout at an even higher level.

Researchers found that having a quiet room for meditation, relaxation and rest allows employees to recharge their physical and mental energy.

Thanks to a CAMC Foundation grant, room 475 West at CAMC General Hospital has been converted to a “recharge room” for employees to take a calming break.

It opened Jan. 26 for all CAMC employees and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (Staff are asked to limit usage of the massage chairs to 20 minutes to ensure availability to everyone.)
