Congratulations to Melissa Gillespie, ICU, for being named the first quarter 2022 Teays Valley Hospital Employee of Excellence.
A former patient called to say Gillespie is the reason he is alive. He was emotional as he talked about how she went above and beyond her duty as a nurse. Some of his comments were:
- She saved my life
- She is such a wonderful person
- Heartfelt and true to her work
- She made me feel very comfortable
- Came in on her day off to help me
- Kept me hopeful and got me through it emotionally
- Held my hand and talked about my 4-year-old son to decrease my anxiety while I was having a chest tube placed
- Checked on me every day once I transferred to the floor
