Dave Ramsey

Vandalia Health President and CEO Dave Ramsey has announced his decision to retire in July of 2026.

Ramsey came to Charleston Area Medical Center in 2000 and became the President and CEO of Vandalia Health after it was created in 2022.

“It is hard for us to believe that we have been in West Virginia, and at CAMC and now Vandalia Health, for almost 25 years,” Ramsey said. “My wife and I have cherished our time here, and we will continue to be here and a part of the community. I have been blessed in so many ways with a committed board over the years, and the great honor of working with a talented and dedicated team every day. Together we have accomplished far more than I ever imagined.”

Vandalia Health is preparing for a search to replace Ramsey allowing for a proper transition.

“Vandalia Health is soundly positioned to continue delivering high quality, cutting-edge care close to home long into the future,” Ramsey said. “I’m so proud of our more than 13,000 employees, providers and volunteers – and know they will continue to deliver on the promise of Vandalia Health.”

Ramsey has spent more than 47 years in health care administration.

Prior to coming to CAMC, Ramsey worked at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, served as secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals for the State of Louisiana, worked at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and the Methodist Hospital System in Houston.

During his more than 25 years in West Virginia, Ramsey has served the community on boards and committees including West Virginia Hospital Association (executive committee, board chairman 2012), American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board 3, VHA Central Atlantic Board (former vice chairman), Institute of Healthcare Executives and Suppliers (executive member), Health Insights (board chairman 2016), Kanawha Coalition for Community Health Improvement, University of Charleston, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and West Virginia Round Table.
