The Physician Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Sarah Rinehart, MD, FACC, a distinguished cardiologist at Charleston Area Medical Center and long-time faculty member recognized for her commitment to cardiovascular innovation, advanced imaging and mentorship of the next generation of clinicians.
Dr. Rinehart has led multiple statewide research and quality-improvement initiatives that have strengthened cardiovascular care delivery throughout West Virginia. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in advanced cardiovascular imaging and preventive cardiology clinical trials, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based strategies for early detection and management of heart disease.
Dr. Rinehart is a board-certified cardiologist and faculty member at the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, having earned her medical degree from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where she also completed her internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship. Her clinical expertise includes advanced cardiac imaging (CT/MRI), coronary physiology, and cardiovascular innovation. She is widely respected for her mentorship of trainees and her leadership in expanding access to evidence-based cardiovascular care across the state.
The Cardiovascular Team (CVT) Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Frank H. Annie, PhD, FACC, Clinical Sciences Research Manager for Heart and CT Surgery at the Charleston Area Medical Center Institute for Academic Medicine. Dr. Annie was recognized for his extensive work in cardiovascular outcomes research, data management, and support of multidisciplinary cardiovascular studies that contribute to improved patient outcomes. He has collaborated on more than 70 peer-reviewed studies in cardiovascular outcomes, population health, and health-services research.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Annie holds a PhD from Florida State University and has contributed to multiple national research collaborations through TriNetX, CAMC, and the ACC network. His work emphasizes team-based research support and advancing data-driven approaches to cardiovascular care.
The WVACC Lifetime Achievement Awards are presented annually to recognize members whose careers demonstrate sustained excellence, leadership, and service to the field of cardiology in West Virginia. The West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology represents cardiovascular professionals across the state, advancing the mission of the national ACC by promoting education, advocacy and quality patient care. Through its annual scientific meeting, advocacy initiatives and statewide partnerships, WVACC continues to strengthen the cardiovascular community and advance heart health throughout West Virginia.
