Charleston Area Medical Center's Sleep Center was the first sleep center in West Virginia to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. From pediatrics to elderly adults, we provide comprehensive care for conditions related to sleep-awake disorders. The sleep center helps patients with a variety of sleep disorder symptoms, including narcolepsy, excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep apnea, sleep attacks, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and periodic leg movement. Our medical director, Dr. George Zaldivar, is board certified in sleep and pulmonary medicine.
Our sleep center has four testing rooms, each of which has been designed to resemble a bedroom so as an overnight guest, you will feel more like at home. In each room, there is a television for relaxation (prior to the start of the sleep study), and we provide snacks and meals depending upon your length of stay with us. All testing is done as an outpatient procedure, and patients usually spend one or two days completing the testing.
Clinic visits and follow-ups are scheduled Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Consultation with the sleep specialist is required prior to scheduling sleep studies.
How to access our center
You may access the Sleep Center by a referral from your primary care physician. You will be scheduled for a consultation with the Medical Director, who will meet with you to discuss your situation, and determine the need for sleep testing
